Normally, you can only recruit one companion at a time. However, using a very specific glitch, you can actually recruit any number of companions you want. This glitch also allows you to have all of the companion-related perks active all at once.
Quick tips before you start doing this glitch:
- Veronica required. In order to perform this glitch, you need to have Veronica recruited as your companion. If you don’t know how to do that refer to the guide here.
- Not available after starting Veronica’s quest. If you finish, or even start, Veronica’s companion quest, you will lose the ability to perform this glitch.
- Other companions required. To have multiple companions in your party, you must have recruited some at least once.
- Lucky 38 suite required. To perform this glitch, you must unlock the Lucky 38 suite. To do so, you must either progress far enough in the “The House Always Wins” questline, or you must kill Mr.House.
Performing The Glitch
Pre-Requisites
Now, to perform this glitch properly, you must first make sure you have whatever companions you want to recruit in the Lucky 38. To do this, simply talk to any companion you recruited and want to have in your party and dismiss them. When they ask you if you are sure, then tell them to wait for you at the Lucky 38.
Next, you need to have Veronica in your party. As mentioned previously, if you’ve started her quest already, the glitch will not work.
There is a chance that you may not have the option to send your companions to the Lucky 38. If this is the case, the only way to fix that is to progress in the Yes Man main quest route far enough to upload Yes Man to the Lucky 38. If that doesn’t fix it either, or you don’t want to lock yourself out of the Mr. House questline, then this bug will not be possible to do in your playthrough.
Traveling With Veronica
Options
To do this glitch, you need to get enough points with Veronica for her to offer you her companion quest.
There are several places you can do this:
- Asking Tom Anderson at the Casa Madrid Apartments in Westside “What do you do here.”
- Going to the area outside of Vault 3.
- Going to Nelson/The Fort/Cottonwood Cove.
- Going to the McCarran Terminal building.
- Pete’s museum tour in the Boomer Museum in the Nellis Air Force Base.
- Talking to Julie Farkas for the first time. Julie is located at the Old Mormon Fort in Freeside.
- Talking to Jason Bright, located at the REPCONN test site, about the great journey.
- Saying “I’m just browsing” to Gloria at the Silver Rush, located in Freeside.
You need to do at least 3 of these things while Veronica is in your party to trigger her quest.
For this tutorial, I will show you the 3 easiest ones to do – Vault 3, Cottonwood Cove, and the McCarran Terminal.
Note that Veronica can sometimes straight-up ignore these triggers, making this glitch (and her quest) impossible to do. On PC, this can be fixed by opening the console (using the tilde key), selecting Veronica, and entering the following command: “addscriptpackage 0014779f” (without quotation marks). This will temporarily fix the bug. Re-do this in every area with a trigger.
Cottonwood Cove
First up, Cottonwood Cove, a Caesar’s Legion base located at the southern end of the Colorado River.

Once you make it to Cottonwood Cove, go down the road to the main camp area.

After you’re here for 30 or so seconds, Veronica will comment on the Legion.

Camp McCarran
Next, go to Camp McCarran, located just south of the New Vegas Strip.

Once you make it to Camp Mc Carran’s front entrance, go inside through the sheet metal door.

After you enter the camp, take the road to the right and follow it until you reach the terminal building.

Enter through the middle set of doors.

Once inside, walk towards the sandbags and you’ll trigger the dialogue.

Vault 3
Lastly, Vault 3. To get here, you must go through either one of the South Vegas Ruins entrances – east or west. I’m using the east entrance as an example.

Once there, enter through the double door.

Exit the building you appear in and go left.

You’ll see a large building, resembling a warehouse in appearance. Enter it.

Go to the southeastern corner of the warehouse and wait for Veronica to comment on the Fiends.

Finishing Up
Once you get the third point, Veronica will approach you and ask if you “have a second”. To this, you MUST answer “Not now.” Selecting the other option will lock you out of this bug.

Lucky 38
Here’s a checklist to make sure you have everything you need:
- At least one companion, not including Veronica, waiting for you in the Lucky 38 presidential suite.
- Veronica is waiting for you in the Lucky 38 presidential suite.
- No active companion in your party.
- Told Veronica “Not now.” after you got 3 companion points with her.
Once you have everything on the checklist above, make a save at the Lucky 38 suite, just in case you do the following steps incorrectly.
Now, make sure you follow the next steps carefully:
- Recruit any companion who’s waiting for you at the Lucky 38.
- Talk to Veronica and select the following dialogue options.
- “What did you want to talk about earlier.”

4. “Why don’t you just go back on your own?”

5. “I have things I need to do. You’d better go alone.”

6. Now Veronica will attempt to leave the Lucky 38, talk to another companion, and recruit them before she leaves.
Repeat steps 2 to 6 until you’ve recruited all of the companions you want.
Once you have everybody recruited, speak to Veronica again, but this time, say “I think we should travel together.”

Now you have any number of companion in your party at the same time.
