Note: Minor Spoilers up to Act 3
The Zenithian Equipment are a set of crucial and powerful equipment set that can ONLY be equipped by the Hero’s son. There are 4 pieces of equipment in the set; the Zenithian Sword, the Zenithian Armor, the Zenithian Shield, and the Zenithian Helm. While the equipment may only be equipped by the Hero’s son, some of the equipment pieces may be used as items in battle by any party member.
The Zenithian Sword
The Zenithian Sword can be acquired relatively early in the game. However, like the other pieces of the Zenithian set, it can only be equipped by the Hero’s son and will be relegated to an item in battle until he joins the party.
The Zenithian Sword can be easily obtained early in Act 2 by progressing through the story. When you go to Whealbrook for the first time in Act 2, you will soon find yourself exploring the cave in the town. It is recommended to be level 14 before you explore the cave as this will allow you to use the spell Evac to safely leave the cave if required. Navigate your way through the cave and you will find yourself in a room decorated with furniture. Deeper in the room stands the Zenithian Sword.

The Zenithian Sword is a great piece of equipment to have even before it is equipable. When equipped, it provides a hefty +110 point to attack. Furthermore, when used as an item in battle, it will cast Disruptive Wave, neutralising all magic on the field. This can be used to remove buffs to bosses amongst other uses, providing great aid throughout the game.
The Zenithian Shield
The Zenithian Shield is the second piece of the Zenithian equipment set that the hero can acquire. The shield can be acquired right after choosing a bride during Act 2 of the game. However, like the Zenithian Sword, since only the Hero’s son can equip the shield, its use is greatly limited to an item in battle until Act 3.
The process to acquire the shield is relatively simple and hard to miss. After choosing a bride and going through the wedding ceremony, return to Rod’s Mansion in Mostroferrato. Two treasure chests in the living area are now able to be opened. The chest on the left contains 2000 gold coins while the one on the right contains the Zenithian Shield.

The Zenithian Shield is the second strongest shield in the game, granting the user +60 defence whilst reducing breath damage by 15 points. If used as an item, the user will cast the skill bounce. The shield is only outclassed in pure stats by the Metal King Shield which grants +70 defence to the user. However, seeing as many bosses in the game utilise breath attacks, the Zenithian Shield eclipses the Metal King Shield in some areas.
The Zenithian Helmet
The Zenithian Helmet is first encountered in Act 2 of the game in Helmunaptra. However, you cannot obtain the Helmet until Act 3. In Act 3, simply visit Helmunaptra and talk to the Queen, located in the garden underneath the castle, with the Hero’s son in the party. This will lead to a scene where the helmet shrinks to fit your son’s head, proving his status as the Legendary Hero. After this scene, you will have obtained the Zenithian Helmet.

The Zenithian Helmet is the weakest equipment piece of the set. While it does provide a hefty +50 defence bonus, it does not provide any secondary effects. This means that it is heavily outclassed by the Metal King Helmet and some weaker helmets with secondary effects may prove more useful in certain situations.
The Zenithian Armor
The Zenithian Armor is typically the last piece of the Zenithian equipment set that you will acquire. This is because the Ultimate Key, an item dropped by a powerful boss in Act 3, is required to obtain the armor.
Once you have obtained the Ultimate Key, head to Crocodilopis. Use the Ultimate to open a door on the right near the base of the stairs. Approach the armor and go through an easy battle with a Snake Ch-arm-er to obtain the Zenithian Armor.

The Zenithian Armor is hands-down the best armor in the game. Not only does it provide a staggering +85 points to defence, but it also reduces magic (save zap and bang) and breath damage by 30 points. The Zenithian is a must-have to ensure the survival of the Hero’s son in battle.
