How to get the Black Combat Armor in Fallout: New Vegas

The Black Combat Armor, also sometimes referred to as the Van Graff Combat Armor, is a variant of the standard Combat Armor that provides some extra protection. It can be found in the location “Durable Dunn’s Sacked Caravan”.

Quick tips before you head off to grab the armor:

  • The Pip-Boy screen doesn’t have an accurate name for it. Despite the armor being different from the regular combat armor, the Pip-Boy screen only refers to it as “Combat Armor”, making it easy to mistake the Black Combat Armor for the regular model.
  • Get it early on. This is the easiest version of the combat armor to acquire, as it is available for free in a location with no enemies very close to locations that you’ll inevitably visit during the main story. The earlier you get the armor, the better, as it is one of the best armor sets that the player can get in the early game.

Acquisition of the armor

To get the armor, make your way to the location “Durable Dunn’s Sacked Caravan”, located west of the Gun Runners’ Kiosk.
