You can create the Blessing Ointment by morphing the Green Beans recipe. For this, you will need a Bitter Root with a Fire Element Level 2.
The Blessing Ointment becomes available in Chapter 2 – Taking the First Step, part 2. It is a mandatory item to complete the final quest in the chapter.
Make sure you complete the following requirements to synthesize a Blessing Ointment:
- Raise your Alchemy Level: Synthesizing a Blessing Ointment requires Alchemy Level 5. You can raise your level by synthesizing multiple low quality Clothes and Ingots. These two items do not share overlapping ingredients with the Blessing Ointment.
- Obtain a high quality Bitter Root: At Alchemy Level 5, you will need at least one ingredient with Element Level 2. You will also need to clear the 30 Quality requirement. The Bitter Root is the easiest one to obtain.
Gathering the Ingredients
The Blessing Ointment only requires four ingredients. You will need to gather one medicinal item, two flowers and one Bitter Root.
The two flowers must have a Fire element.
Gathering the Medicinal and Flower Ingredients
You can obtain the medicinal flower right in front of Ryza’s house. This ingredient can be used in the first two loops.
After exiting the house, walk to the other side of the road. Collect the red flowers to obtain a Health Flower. Make sure to collect at least three of them.
Obtaining the Bitter Root
There are two methods to obtain a Bitter Root.
- Buying a high quality Bitter Root from the merchants in Kurken Port. This is the most efficient way.
- Gathering a Bitter Root on Traveler’s Road. Be aware that the gathered Bitter Root will not have a high enough Element Level to complete the recipe.This method requires you to have an Alchemy Level to 10 to unlock an extra ingredient in the recipe.
Buying the Bitter Root
If you choose to buy the Bitter Root, fast travel to Kurken Port – Lighthouse. Head over to the other side of the bridge
Talk to the grocery store merchant.
Scroll down her list and buy one Bitter Root. These ingredients have a Fire Element Level 2, which will be enough to complete the recipe.
Gathering the Bitter Root
If your Alchemy Level is 10 or above, you can choose to gather the Bitter Root instead.
Fast travel to Rasen District – Desert Port and hop on the boat to the mainland.
Head north of the pier and to Traveler’s Road.
Turn west from the entrance and you will find these plants with white flowers.
Collect them to obtain a Bitter Wood. Make sure to gather at least two. Check their quality to make sure they are both above 30.
Synthesizing the Blessing Ointment
After obtaining all the ingredients, fast travel back to Ryza’s room. Head over to the cauldron and select the Green Beans recipe.
Start by adding the Health Flower to the Quality loop.
Add another two Health Flowers to the Effect 2 loop. Although this is an Electric Element loop, you will need a Fire Element Level 2 to unlock the recipe morph.
Complete the recipe morph by adding the Bitter Root to the Recipe loop. Make sure to meet the Fire Element Level 2 requirement.
In this case, we are using the Bitter Root bought from the Kurken Port market.
Select “Yes” after the recipe morph.
You will get a Blessing Ointment with 30 Quality, completing the quest’s requirement.
At Alchemy Level 5, you can only use four ingredients in this recipe. Since you will only be able to gather ingredients with an Element Level 1, you would need at least five.
Buying a level 2 Bitter Root will allow you to synthesize the Blessing Ointment at Alchemy Level 5.
As an alternative, you can raise your Alchemy Level up to 10 to unlock the five ingredients. You will then be able to complete the recipe using only Element Level 1 items.
Fast travel to Old Town – Residential Square. Hand the Blessing Ointment to Lila and you will complete the quest.
Equipping the Blessing Ointment
Once you have the Blessing Ointment, open the menu and select “Equip”.
Choose which character you want to equip.
On the next screen, press E (keyboard), RT (controller), R (Switch) or R1 (PS4) and switch to the “Equipment” tab. Select the slot you want to equip the Blessing Ointment to.
Choose the Blessing Ointment and confirm.
You will be able to use the Blessing Ointment both in and out of battle. Pay attention to your Core Charges (CC).
If you run out of CC, you can replenish it by converting one of your equipped items. Returning to Ryza’s room will automatically replenish all Core Charges.
