In order to unlock Empel’s ultimate weapon, the Genesis Staff, you must clear the normal quest “The Recipe Sleeps at the Old Fairystone Silo”.
You will need to meet these requirements:
- Advance the main story: The quest for Empel’s weapon only becomes available once you unlock the final chapter in the main story.
- Discover the Old Fairystone Silo landmark: The Old Fairystone Silo is one of Cleria’s landmarks. It’s located on the northeast of the Astrad Heights map.
- Create a Secret Key with a generic Adventure Effect: You will need a Secret Key to access the Old Fairystone Silo.
- Unlock the Grand Orgen recipe: The Grand Orgen recipe is on the top part of the Skill Tree. It requires 1500 SP to unlock.
- Obtain an Underworld Crystal: The Underworld Crystal is a common drop from most Philuscha monsters in the Underworld Orim region.
Unlocking the Genesis Staff Recipe
In order to unlock the Genesis Staff recipe, you must discover the Old Fairystone Silo. This landmark is located on the northeast of the Astrad Heights area, in the Cleria region.
You can only access it from the Giant Water Wheel, where the Cleria Region Atelier is located. Cross the bridge to the southwest, then simply follow the trail to reach the silo.
After discovering the landmark, fast travel to Sardonica – Fairystone Workshop.
Enter the building and talk to Alberta.
You will then unlock the quest “The Recipe Sleeps at the Old Fairystone Silo”.
Fast travel back to Astrad Heights – Old Fairystone Silo.
Walk down the stairs and interact with the locked door.
Use a Secret Key with a generic Adventure Effect in order to enter the silo.
You will need to use your Secret Key another six times. Make sure there are enough uses left in it.
In the first room, you will fight six Earth Masters in three separate battles. You must beat them in order to progress.
These are very weak monsters. Just like all Golems, the Earth Master resists physical attacks, but is vulnerable to magical skills.
After defeating the monsters, use the Secret Key to open the second door.
In the next room, use the Secret Key again to open the third door.
In the third room, you will face two battles against shark monsters. Each battle will have a total of three waves.
In the first wave, you will take on two Hide Sharks.
In the second wave, you will fight a single Megamouth.
In the third and final wave, you will fight a Spinal Fin.
After clearing the room, use the Secret Key again to open the fourth door.
Continue towards the end of the fourth room, then use the Secret Key to open the fifth door.
In the fifth room, you will battle wyrm monsters in two waves.
First, you will take on a Cloud Liner.
After defeating the Cloud Liner, you will fight the King of Storms.
Once you clear the room, proceed to the sixth door and open it using the Secret Key.
Walk to the end of the room and then use the Secret Key for the seventh and final time.
In the final room, walk to the center and check the pile of books.
Fast travel to Sardonica – Fairystone Workshop. Report back to Alberta in order to clear the quest.
You will obtain the recipe for Empel’s Genesis Staff as a reward.
Once you return to the Atelier, you will automatically learn the recipe.
Obtaining the Ingredients
Aside from the Grand Orgen, the Genesis Staff requires an Underworld Crystal.
Underworld Crystal
The Underworld Crystal is a guaranteed drop from scorpion-type and rat-type Philuscha in the Underworld Orim region.
Monsters spawning from random quests will not drop Underworld Crystals.
Synthesizing the Genesis Staff
After obtaining all necessary ingredients, return to the Atelier.
Before you get started with the Genesis Staff, create 11 Grand Orgen ingots.
Select the Genesis Staff recipe from the cauldron’s menu.
Start with the Effect 2 loop, and insert an Underworld Crystal.
The cursor will automatically move to the Effect 1 loop. Use all the remaining ingredients and dump as many Grand Orgen ingots as possible in this loop.
With the Skill Tree maxed out, you will be able to add 11 ingots.
You can now synthesize the recipe. Don’t worry about the effects, as you will be able to add them with the Item Rebuild option.
In order to level up all loops in the recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
- Grand Orgen (Air Element level 6 loop).
- Two Underworld Crystals (Fire Element levels 4 and 6).
- Two Ingot-category ingredients (Air Element levels 3 and 5).
- Seven Elixir-category ingredients (Ice Element levels 4 and 6; Air Element level 3; Fire Element levels 4 and 5).
You can use Philosopher’s Stones, Olden Philosopher’s Stones, or Crystal Elements to quickly fill out all loops.
With all loops maxed out, the Genesis Staff will have the following effects:
- Divine Realm Alchemy: reduces the wait time for items, and drops their CC cost by 2.
- Mark of Aggression 6: raises Empel’s Attacker level.
You can use the furnace at the back of the Atelier to reinforce your weapon. The reinforce option lets you add Traits, Super Traits, and boost your equipment’s stats up to the 999 cap.
Best Weapon for Empel
In Atelier Ryza 3, weapons have standalone recipes, with no morphs to connect them. This makes all five weapons viable, leaving it up to your build preferences.
Empel has the following weapons to choose from, other than the Genesis Staff:

The other weapons will have slightly inferior stats, but the difference is minimal.
When synthesizing one of these weapons, look for a loop that requires generic Ingot-category ingredients.
Follow the synthesis flow all the way up to that loop, then add as many Grand Orgen ingots as possible.
