You’ll find Erdrick’s Sword in Dragonlord’s Castle. It’s the strongest sword in the game and, although not required to beat the game, is highly recommended if you want to defeat the final boss.
Here are some tips on how you should prepare yourself:
- Be at least level 17. If you’re not there yet, grind in Damdara or on the desert outside of Damdara until you’re at that level.
- Gear up. The following items are almost mandatory:
- Erdrick’s Armor– Find it in Damdara. See our guide on how to get it. You’ll need it to cross the poisonous swamp without taking any damage.
- Flame Sword and Silver Shield – Buy in Cantlin
- Dragon Scale – Buy at any Item Shop.
- The Warrior’s Ring – Found in Craggy Cave.
- Stock up on Medicinal Herbs and Magic Keys.
Accessing Dragonlord’s Castle
Dragonlord’s Castle can only be accessed near the end of the game. When you have the Sunstone and the Staff of Rain, head south of Rimuldar to get into the Sanctum found at the extreme south of the continent. You must talk to the priest and give him the Sunstone and the Staff of Rain which will cause a chest with the Rainbow Drop to appear that will allow you to access the Castle.

Go back to Rimuldar, rest at the Inn and stock up on Medicinal Herbs. Exit Rimuldar and head northwest until you reach a small peninsula with one tile of water separating you from the other shore. Use the Rainbow Drop here and a bridge will appear.

Cross the bridge and the poisonous swamp (it won’t damage you if you are wearing Erdrick’s Armour) and get into Dragonlord’s Castle.
Navigating Dragonlord’s Castle
In this dungeon you will find the following enemies:
| Name | HP | MP | Skills |
| Cosmic Chimaera | 73 | 8 | Fire Breath, Midheal |
| Green Dragon | 66 | None | Fire Breath |
| Tearwolf | 58 | None | None |
| Vis Mager | 68 | 16 | Fizzle, Sizzle |
| Blue Dragon | 96 | None | Fire Breath |
| Stone Golem | 160 | None | None |
Inside the Castle, take the left path and get to the end of the room. Search for the spark behind the throne to open up a secret stairway. Go down to the next floor.

On this floor you will fight the same enemies you fought in Damdara, including Knights Aberrants. Cast Glow and you’ll see a door that you can open with a Magic Key. When the path splits, take the path left, then go up when they split again, and get to the next stairs.
Follow these directions to get to the end.
From this floor onwards, Blue Dragons and Stone Golems will appear. Stone Golems have a lot of HP so it’s advised to just snooze them and flee if you have the MP to conserve your HP. Stick to the left wall while you go up and then right. When you reach the next split, go down. Keep going in that direction until you find the stairs.
Immediately west of here you’ll find a room with two chests. Open them to get gold and Medicinal Herbs. Now head to the right, then up. Skip the stairs that you’ll see and head left until you see another stairway. Get into that one.
Head south and you’ll see more stairs nearby, one going down and one going up. The descending one will take you into an infinite loop, so take the ascending stairs instead. Climb them, then keep climbing floor after floor until you reach a final room with a chest. Open it to receive Erdrick’s Sword.

You can now cast Evac to get out of the castle or keep grinding in this dungeon until you’re at least level 20 which is the recommended level before trying to face the final boss.
Erdrick’s Sword Stats
Erdrick’s sword has 40 ATK which is the highest of any weapon in the game. For comparison, the second best sword, the Flame Sword, only grants you 28 ATK.
