How to restore the first Mysterious Pillar in Dragon Quest VII

The first Mysterious Pillar is in the Divine Shrine.  You’ll find the three Mysterious Fragments you need in Nottagen and Buccanham. Restoring this pillar is needed to travel to the Divine Shrine in the past and to continue the main story.

Finding the first fragment

You can find the first fragment after you complete the Nottagen scenario in the past. Sail to the new island and head for the Pillar of Sulk.

The layout of the tower and the enemies are the same as in the past. Get to the top of the tower, following the same directions as in the past, and you’ll find the first Mysterious Fragment in the same place where you fought Sulkk.

The next two fragments are found on the same questline. You’ll need to restore the last Blue Pillar so you can teleport to Buccanham.

Walk north from the teleport pad and enter Buccanham Palace. Enter the Inn and talk to the thug in the bar, he’ll tell you the Inn’s owner is at the church. Talk to her at the church.

Finding the third mysterious fragment

Recommended level: 28-29

Get back to the king and he’ll ask you to get Glowmoss from the Den of the Dwarves to track the monster. Exit Buccanham, take the path north and head southeast after the bifurcation until you find the cave.

The first two floors follow a straightforward path. On the third floor, you’ll first find a set of stairs that lead to a room with an Enclosure Plan and a Pillager’s Helmet. Head back up and continue the path southwest until you find the next stairs.

From here, walk to the southwestern corner to find the next set of stairs, then go straight south until you reach the end of the room and prepare your party for a boss battle.

Mossferatu | Dragon Quest VII
Mossferatu
1300 hp, can cast Chilly Breath, Demon Mist and Kazing
Mossferatu will be accompanied by two minions who can cast Midheal and Burning Breath. If you kill them first, there’s a chance that Mossferatu will revive them with Kazing, so for this boss fight, it’s a good idea to focus on him first.Cast Insulatle and Kabuff on your party as soon as the battle starts, then lower his defense with abilities like Helm Breaker or just Sap, and keep attacking him with physical attacks while one member of your party uses Multiheal or Hustle Dance every turn. After Mossferatu is down, the two minions should pose no trouble.

After this fight, take the Glowmoss from the wall and cast Evac to go back to Buccanham. The monster will be back and you’ll be able to rub the Glowmoss at him. Now you can follow his trail at the Beacon.

Before heading to the Beacon, make sure you have one Prism Dew with you. If you don’t, go back to the Shrine of Mysteries and take the Blue Teleportal to get to the lake where you can fill your bottle with one.

Follow the road to the north of Buccanham until you reach the big tower.

Inside the tower, you simply need to follow the bright footprints left by the monster until you reach the top of the tower.

Togrus Maximus | Dragon Quest VII
Togrus Maximus
1580 HP, can cast Stomp and Midheal.
This fight is easier than Mossferatu. Cast Kabuff a couple times on your party, because all his attacks are physical. After that, just make sure to attack him with your best abilities and keep your party healed. He should fall in 5 turns or so.

Now that you have cleansed the Beacon, head back to Buccanham and talk to the king; he’ll give you the Buccanham’s Blessing.
