|Flute of Revelation
|Used to reveal a hidden passage.
You can find the Flute of Revelation after defeating Baalzack in Zamoksva castle and opening their treasury. This is an optional item but it will allow you to access a new area and interact with one of the main characters in Dragon Quest IV story.
- Have all members in your party. You should’ve already recruited all the protagonists of the previous chapters, including Ragnar.
- Get the Magic Key. You’ll find it by revisiting the cave to the west of Aubout du Monde.
- Your party should be at least level 20. You’ll fight the strongest boss up until this point in the game, so you’ll have to make sure you’re on a decent level. Also, you’ll unlock Zing at this level, to resurrect characters in battle.
- Get the best gear you can. Full Plate Armor on your Hero and Ragnar, Cloak of Evasion on your magic users, and the highest ATK weapons you can buy.
Heading to Zamoksva Castle
When you sleep at the inn in Strathbaile, to the north of Burland, you’ll trigger a cutscene; your hero will dream of a man playing a flute in front of a tower. To find this flute you’ll need to head to Zamoksva Castle.
If you haven’t reached Zamoksva again in Chapter 5 yet, cast Zoom and go to Endor. From there sail your ship down the river, and head northeast once you reach the ocean. After the narrow passage between the island and a peninsula you’ll see Zalenagrad and Zamoksva. Rest and restock in the town if you want and head to the castle.
Finding the Flute of Revelation
The castle is invaded by demons, just like at the end of Chapter 2. You can talk to the monster NPCs, and only the one in the kitchen will attack you. There are no chests to grab in the castle yet so just head to the throne room and talk to Balzack, triggering the next boss fight.
|760 HP – Can cast Kacrack and Cold Breath
|This will probably be your hardest fight up until this point. Both Kacrack and Cold Breath hit your entire party, and they usually do more than 50 damage. I recommend having Meena constantly healing your party and reviving them with Zing, Maya to cast Sap and damaging spells on Balzack, and either Ragnar or Alena doing physical attacks. Your Hero should attack or heal depending on your needs. Even at level 20 this will be a hard fight, so if you feel the need to grind another level or two, do it.
After you beat Balzack, the monsters will go away. Head back to the first floor and open the red door on the northeast with your magic key. The magic floor in this room does a lot of damage, so cast Safe Passage with Maya to walk inside. Here you’ll find a Seed of Strength, the Magma Staff and the Flute of Revelation.
Note: The Magma Staff that you find in this room is also a key item to progress your story, allowing you to reach Femiscyra.
Using the Flute of Revelation
You’ll need to head to Rosehill if you want to use it. The easiest way to reach Rosehill is by Zooming to Minikin’s Dominion, and sailing south into the river until you find the town.
Use the flute in front of the tower, on the square-shaped platform you saw in the dream cutscene, and it will trigger an elevator.
Follow the hallway and go up the stairs to reach Rose’s bedroom, but before talking to her, a guardian boss will show up.
|1200 HP – Can use the Silence Sphere and call for Chillanodons
|This fight will be much easier than Baalzack. Whenever he calls Chillanodons you can just cast Frizzle to one-shot them, and the Sphere of Silence that he uses misses a lot of the time. Just keep attacking and healing your party until he’s done.
Defeating him will earn you back the Sphere of Silence from Maya and Meena’s chapter! You’ll also be able to get into Rose’s bedroom and talk to her and the Slime to learn more about Psaro the Manslayer.
