Basic Information
Gotz is the town’s carpenter and woodcutter who lives in the forest south of Mineral town. His wife and daughter tragically died on Mother’s Hill, so he spends a lot of time patrolling the mountain. Gotz is reclusive, although you can find Harris visiting him often.
Gotz can upgrade your house and farm buildings. If you befriend him, Gotz can teach you the recipe for savory pancakes.

Gotz lives in the Woodcutter’s House, which you can find south of your farm. To find his house, head south past the bridge and the river, and then turn right when you are in the forested area.

Gotz’s Past

Visit Gotz’s house between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on a Sunday. Inside, you’ll find Gotz and Harris talking about patrolling the mountains.
As the town’s local police officer, Harris feels that it’s his responsibility to patrol Mother’s Hill. Gotz insists on doing it, remembering how his family tragically lost their lives on the mountain. He thinks that keeping the mountain safe will make his family rest peacefully.

This event only happens when you are in Year 3 or more. When you visit Gotz, he will be in a sour mood. He says that he feels overworked and unappreciated by the townsfolk and he will refuse any work you ask of him.
In order to make him work again, you must raise his affection to the maximum. There is no way to know how much affection he has, so you just have to give him gifts until he says he’s ready to work again. The best gifts to raise his affection are apples, eggs, and honey.

Visit Kai’s restaurant at Mineral Beach between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Kai tells you he doesn’t have any customers. Popuri shows up with a lot of customers, and now Kai is worried that it’ll be too difficult for him to cook for all of them. You agree to help Kai, and he thanks you for your help.
