Gray works as an apprentice blacksmith to his grandfather, Saibara. He is a hard worker who often gets in arguments with his grandfather, who has high expectations of him. Gray originally comes from the city, and he often complains about having to live in Mineral Town.

Events with Gray
Gray Visits Kai’s Restaurant
Date: Any day during the summer season
Time: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
When you arrive, you will see Gray ordering food. Kai will notice your arrival and greet you. Gray will compliment Kai, saying that he has the best food in town. This embarrasses Kai, but he just laughs it off. Gray leaves and says goodbye to you and Kai.
Customers for Kai
Date: Any date, summer season only
Time: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Gray is one of the customers who visits Kai’s restaurant during this event.
Visit Kai’s restaurant at Mineral Beach between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Kai tells you he doesn’t have any customers. Popuri shows up with a lot of customers, and now Kai is worried that it’ll be too difficult for him to cook for all of them. You agree to help Kai, and he thanks you for your help.
Note: The day will end when you trigger this event, so finish all your tasks before going to the beach.
Mary’s Book
Date: Thursdays, any season
Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
You can view this even after Gray and Mary have gotten married.
On a Thursday, go to Mother’s Hill between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. You will find Gray and Mary talking about a book that Mary has written. The publisher wants a sequel to the book, and Gray is happy for Mary.
Gray expresses his concern for Mary and worries that she works too hard. Mary is happy that Gray is concerned and promises not to be too hard on herself.
A Prize for Basil
Date: Thursday, any season
Time: 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM
In order to trigger this event, Mary and Gray must be married. Visit Basil’s house between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM. You’ll find Basil and his family celebrating an award that he has won for a book he wrote. He thanks everyone for their support and kind words.
Rival Heart Events
Each potential marriage candidate has their own rival heart events. Once you’ve viewed their orange heart event, they will marry your rival after seven days. You cannot view a rival heart event when the girl involved has a higher affection level for you.
For example, if you want to view Popuri and Kai’s green rival heart event, Popuri’s affection should be green or lower. If she has an orange or red heart, the rival heart event will not trigger.
Black Rival Heart Event
Location: Saibara’s shop
Date: Any day except Monday
Time: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Mary arrives while Gray and Saibara are working inside the blacksmith’s shop. She thanks Saibara for a tool he has made for her father. Suddenly, Gray hurts himself while working and starts bleeding. Mary will tend to Gray’s wounds.
Blue Rival Heart Event
Location: Library
Date: Any day except Monday
Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Inside, you’ll find Gray looking at the books. People don’t visit the library often, so Mary thanks him for coming and asks him if he wants to read a novel she’s been writing. Gray says he’d love to.
Green Rival Heart Event
Location: Mother’s Hill
Date: Sunday, Tuesday, or Friday, must be in Year 2 or more
Time: 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Gray is reading Mary’s novel and is jealous that she is so good at writing, while he feels he’s not a good enough blacksmith. Mary encourages Gray to keep going and that if he really loves being a blacksmith, he will eventually improve automatically.
Orange Rival Heart Event
Location: Library
Date: Thursday or Saturday, must be in Year 4 or more
Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Gray happily informs Mary that Saibara finally lets him do some proper work around the shop. He thanks Mary for encouraging him in the past. If not for her, he would’ve given up already.
Gray tells Mary that he has a question he’d like to ask her after he passes the blacksmith exam.
Note: Gray and Mary will get married seven days after viewing this event.
