LocationPharos Tower

To light the fire in the Pharos Tower, to the east of Porthrunnel, you’ll need the Holy Ember that you can find on the fourth floor of the same tower. Doing this is necessary to recruit Torneko and to use his ship.

Preparations

  • Be around level 12. Grinding for gold to buy gear on Porthrunnel should take you to this level already.
  • Gear up in Porthrunnel. Get an Iron Armor and a Steel Broadsword for your hero, a Holy Lance for Meena and the Poison Moth Knife for Borya.
  • Stock up on Moonwort Bulbs. Some enemies can paralyze you often, and Moonwort Bulbs are dirt cheap.

Finding Pharos Tower

Once you reach Porthrunnel, head to the docks on the west and you’ll find out they’re closed; no ship will sail as long as the Pharos Beacon keeps burning a black flame. You’ll have to go there and change the flames.

After you rested at the inn and equipped yourself at the weapons shop, exit Porthrunnel and head west. Turn north past the mountains and you’ll see a bridge; cross it and head southeast until you reach a big tower. Enter it.

Exploring the Pharos Tower

There are many different monsters on this tower, but the ones you should care about the most are the Restless Armours and Skeleton Swordsmen. Sometimes you’ll also find Metal Slimes here; if you manage to slay one you’ll get a lot of EXP, but they’re extremely hard to kill and they escape easily.

As soon as you enter the main room, head north and enter the space in the middle; you’ll find two chests with a Seed of Resilience and 400 gold coins

Get to the northern side of the room and you’ll find Torneko! He’s here trying to put down the black flame, but now he’ll leave the job to you. You can recruit it after doing that. For now just head to the next floor.

Immediately to your left there’s a Mini Medal. Heading south there are three paths; the ones to the left and right sides take you to a Magic Water and a Seed of Strength respectively. The path in the middle takes you to the next floor.

Be careful not to step on the edges of this floor, or you’ll fall outside the tower. Following the main path you’ll find a small demon; he’ll tell you he’s after Torneko, you can just ignore him.

Keep following the main path north and you’ll get a Moonworth Bulb. To the western side of the room there’s a Hunter’s Bow, and nearby to the north you’ll see the stairs to the next floor.

In the middle of this room there’s a chest; open it to get the Holy Embers, but don’t exit the tower yet! You still need to use them. 3 staircases go up, but the two southern ones are dead ends. Take the stairs northeast.

Before heading to the center of the room, go west to find a chest with a Golden Tiara; you can equip it on any female character. Now go to the middle and talk to the monsters to start a boss fight.

He is accompanied by two Flamethrowers. The Tigergram can paralyze your entire party with his screams, but he’s very susceptible to Snooze, so keep him asleep while you deal with the Flamethrowers.
Do normal attacks to the Flamethrowers while you keep healing your party, and after they’re both dead, cast Sap a couple of times on the Tigergram before waking him up with attacks. Alone, he should fall in no time.

After you defeat the monsters, walk to the Pharon Beacon and use the Holy Embers. The dark flames will vanish and you’ll light up a new one.

The lighthouse is finally working! You can walk to the edge of the tower to fall down to the world map, and then just Zoom to Porthrunnel.

In Porthrunnel you’ll find out the docks are working again, and Torneko is waiting for you there. He’ll join your party and you’ll be able to use his ship! The vast majority of the world will open up for you now that you have a ship, but your next step in your adventure should be where Torneko advised you to go: south, towards Mintos.
