The Icicle Dirk (also known as Ice Blade or Icicle Blade in other versions of the game) is a unique weapon found in the weapon shop of Lakanaba, behind a locked door. You’ll need an Ultimate Key to open this door.

This sword can’t be found or bought anywhere else in the game. It’s recommended to get it as soon as you obtain the Ultimate Key from the queen of Femiscyra, as it can be outdated by better weapons if you get it much later in the game.

Getting the Ultimate Key

After you reach Femiscyra, go to the eastern room. You’ll see two drawers and a person looking at one of them. Talk to him and he’ll escape with a stolen bronze rosary, with the guards coming and seeing you as the suspect. 

You’ll have to recover the stolen rosary by exiting the castle and heading to the cave surrounded by mountains on the southeast.

Fight the thief at the end of this dungeon to get back the Rosary. The queen will reward you with the Ultimate Key. You can open all doors in the game now!

Note: doing this quest will also grant you access to the treasury of Femiscyra, where you’ll find the Zenithian Shield. You’ll need four pieces of Zenithian Gear to progress the story.

Finding the Icicle Dirk

Now that you have the Ultimate Key, you have to go to Lakanaba, which you probably remember as the starting town of Torneko in Chapter 4. If you haven’t reached the town yet in this chapter, Zoom to Ballymoral and walk north or go to the western shore and sail north.

Once you’re in town, head to the weapons shop where Torneko used to work. In the basement there’s a locked room. Open it with your Ultimate Key to find three chests with Seed of Strength, a Chain Sickle and the Icicle Dirk.

And that’s it! This weapon can be equipped by both the Hero and Ragnar, and at this point in the game it’s a great choice for either. It’s more recommended for Ragnar tho, as the weapon can be used to cast Crackle, allowing a character with no magic skills to have some spellcasting choices to do area damage on enemies.
