How to get Infinite XP / Max Level before leaving Goodsprings in Fallout: New Vegas
How to get Infinite XP / Max Level before leaving Goodsprings in Fallout: New Vegas

There is a glitch in Fallout: New Vegas that allows you to repeat a dialogue choice an infinite number of times. This allows the player to get an infinite number of XP, Leather Armor, and 9mm ammunition.

A few notes before you go to perform the glitch.

  • Works on all platforms. This glitch works on all gaming platforms and all game versions.
  • You can increase your XP gain. If you wish to increase the rate at which you get this XP, you can take the “Fast Learner” and “Lesson Learned” (Lonesome Road DLC Required) perks. If you’re worried about wasting perk points on these perks, read the next point.
  • You can double the number of perks you get. If you level up in the starting area and you choose the “Rebuild Character” option when you leave the area, your level will reset to 1 and the XP you got will be re-given to you, but your old perks will remain. You can also change your sex during this screen, allowing you to get all of the sex-specific perks on a single character.
  • Barter or Speech skill of 25 or more required. To perform this glitch, you need a Barter or Speech skill of 25 or more. As you will get to rebuild your character as you leave Goodsprings, just start your character with 10 Charisma and tag one of the two skills. You can change this after you max out your level.

Performing the Glitch

To perform the glitch, you must first head to the Prospector Saloon, located in Goodsprings, right down the path from Doc Michell’s house.

Once inside, a woman called “Sunny Smiles” will speak to you. Select the first dialogue option.

She’ll tell you to meet her behind the Saloon. Go there and wait for her, or you can just follow her if you’re having trouble. Once you’re both there, she’ll give you a Varmit rifle and tell you to shoot a couple of bottles.

You can just shoot down 3 bottles and tell her that she taught you enough and go back inside the saloon. However, if you’d like to get some more ammo out of this task, you can drop the ammo she gives you, talk to her and she’ll give you 60 additional 5.56 rounds.

Once you’re back inside the Saloon, you’ll hear Joe Cobb, a man dressed in a blue shirt with a ballistic vest worn over it, threatening the bartender.

Wait for the conversation to be over, then follow Joe Cobb. He’ll go outside and lean against one of the nearby buildings. Once he’s there, you can speak to him.

Exhaust his dialogue options until he gives you the task of killing Ringo. Ringo is located in a gas station located right next to Doc Michell’s house.

Tell Joe Cobb of your success. He will now task you with getting supplies from the townsfolk. This is where you kill Joe Cobb. You can do this from a [HIDDEN] state with a suppressed weapon so that you don’t lose any Powder Ganger reputation.

Now you can go to the Goodsprings General Store, located next to the Prospector Saloon, and talk to the owner. Select the option that says “The Powder Gangers need you to donate some supplies to them”. Then you can pick either one of the options in the dialogue box. The first one is better because if you align your cursor just right, you can just infinitely click in one spot until you get to the max level.

The glitch is that after you select this option, the dialogue window will reset back to the first one where you select “The Powder Gangers need you to donate some supplies to them.” as opposed to just closing the dialogue box to end the conversation. At this point, you can just spam click to continuously select those two options and collect the rewards until you’ve reached the level you want to be at.
