How to Catch the King Fish in Harvest Moon Back to Nature

King Fish are a special kind of fish that you can catch in Harvest Moon Back to Nature. Each of these fish has a specific requirement you need to fulfill before you can catch them.

Gregg will award you with the title “Fisher King” once you’ve caught all six of the king fish.

The King Fish

There are six king fish in the game. When you catch a king fish, you’ll receive a “fish print” for your accomplishment, and you’ll throw the fish back in the water. You can check how many king fish you have caught in the start menu.

Note: You can’t put any of the king fish in your fishpond as your character tosses them back in the water immediately.

Before you try to catch one of these legendary fish, get the fishing pole from Gregg first (check our guide on how to get the fishing pole). It’s possible to use the fishing rod, but the fishing pole increases your chances of encountering them while fishing.

Angler

Location: Mineral Beach

Season: Winter

Time: 6 AM-8 AM or 10 PM-5:50 AM

Catching the angler does not involve complex steps. You just need to fish at Mineral Beach during winter in the early hours of the morning or very late at night.

Catfish

Location: Winter Mine

Season: Winter

Time: Any

You can find the catfish at the bottom of the Winter Mine. There is a cave on the 10^th floor of the mine that leads to an area with a small lake. You can fish for the catfish in this underground lake.

Tip: Bring food with you to recover your stamina since you need to dig ten floors before you can reach the underground lake. Fishing can be exhausting and you may run out of stamina before you can catch the catfish.

Squid

Location: Mineral Beach

Season: Summer

Time: Any

You can catch the squid on Mineral Beach during the summer. Catching the squid requires bait. Toss a small fish in the water before you try to catch a squid.

Note: You need to throw a small fish in the ocean for each day you try to catch the squid.

Char

Location: Waterfall

Season: Any

Time: Any

To catch the char, first you need to cook four fish recipes. This includes the chirashi sushi, grilled fish, sashimi, and sushi. You can then try to catch the char in the waterfall pond or the river near the hot springs.

Sea Bream

Location: Mineral Beach

Season: Spring, Fall, and Winter

Time: Any

Before you can catch the sea bream, you must first ship 200 fish. You must put them in the shipping bin yourself. Shipping fish using the basket or the horse’s saddlebag DOES NOT work.

You can then catch the sea bream at Mineral Beach during any season except summer.

Important note: There isn’t a way to know how many fish you have shipped already. You have to manually count the number of fish you put in the shipping bin.

Carp

Location: Lake at the Base of Mother’s Hill

Season: Spring, Summer, and Fall

Time: Any

You can only catch the carp after you’ve caught all the other king fish and gotten their fish prints. You can catch the carp in the lake at the base of Mother’s Hill during spring, summer, and fall.
