In order to create the Light and Sturdy Hoe, you will need to obtain a Tough Log first.
You must meet the requirements below in order to proceed:
- Gather Eiche: Before creating the Light and Sturdy Hoe, you will need to synthesize a Woodcutter’s Axe. In order to create the axe, you will need to obtain Eiche.
- Synthesize the Woodcutter’s Axe: After obtaining Eiche, you will need to create the Woodcutter’s Axe.
- Obtain a Tough Log: With the Woodcutter’s Axe in hand, you will then need to obtain a Tough Log.
Obtaining Eiche and Creating the Woodcutter’s Axe
The first part of this quest will require you to synthesize the Woodcutter’s Axe. Eiche is the only ingredient you will need for this synthesis.
Head over to the dirt path leading to the Flower Ring, located west of the Atelier.
Use the staff on the logs in order to obtain Eiche.
Return to the Atelier. Use the cauldron and select the Woodcutter’s Axe recipe.
Start by adding Eiche to the Effect 1 loop.
Move to the Effect 2 loop to the right. Insert Eiche in it as well.
You can synthesize the recipe right away. Later in the story, you will be able to create a better axe, so don’t worry too much about it.
Following that, you will obtain the Woodcutter’s Axe and complete the first part of the quest.
Obtaining a Tough Log and Synthesizing the Light and Sturdy Hoe
Before proceeding, you will need to equip the Woodcutter’s Axe. Open the main menu and select “Items”.
Next, add the Woodcutter’s Axe to one of the empty Survival Tools slots. You will only be able to equip items and tools in an Atelier, or in Ryza’s house.
Once you head out of the Atelier, press the “Gathering Tools” button. Select and equip the Woodcutter’s Axe.
Head back to the path west of the Atelier. Use the Woodcutter’s Axe on the same logs from earlier in order to obtain a Tough Log.
With the Tough Log in hand, return to the Atelier to synthesize the Light and Sturdy Hoe.
Insert the Broken Hoe (which you obtained from Ryza’s mother earlier in the chapter) in the Quality loop.
Move to the Quality loop below. Insert a Tough Log.
These are the only core loops for this recipe. Synthesize it right away to save ingredients.
After that, return to Ryza’s house. Deliver the Light and Sturdy Hoe to Ryza’s mother in order to complete the quest.
