The Lyre of Ire (A.K.A. The Silver Harp on the original NES release of Dragon Quest, or the ShinyHarp if you’re playing on the GBC) is an item you need to get in order to complete the game. To find it, you’ll first have to visit Galenholm to access Galen’s Grave.
Some tips before entering the dungeon:
- Bring 2 Magic Keys. You can buy them on Rimuldar.
- Be at least level 13. If your level is too low, you can grind at the south of Rimuldar.
- Bring appropriate level gear. Buy and equip the Steel Broadsword and Full Plate Armor in Rimuldar and the Iron Shield in Galenholm. It’s also a good idea to get a Dragon Scale from any Item Shop.
Once you’re in Galenholm, use a Magic Key on the first door you’ll see to the north. Inside the building there are three chests with a Copper Sword, a Torch and 630G. There is also a room with an old lady; If you open the door with a Magic Key and talk to her, she will give you another Magic Key.

Head to the northwestern corner of the building, walk three steps to the right and move into the dark area to reveal a pathway. Follow the pathway and talk to the bearded man to access Galen’s Grave.

These are the enemies you will find on this dungeon:
| Name | HP | MP | Skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bewarewolf | 34 | None | None |
| Drackyma | 20 | 10 | Heal, Sizz |
| Drohl Drone | 31 | None | None |
| Drohl Diabolist | 54 | 10 | Snooze |
| Fightgeist | 21 | 10 | Sizz |
| Iron scorpion | 21 | None | None |
| Legerdeman | 27 | 10 | Snooze, Sizz |
| Raving lunatick | 35 | 30 | Heal, Sizz |
| Scarewolf | 37 | 6 | Fizzle |
| Skeleton | 29 | None | None |
| Skeleton soldier | 46 | 12 | Heal |
| Spitegeist | 31 | 14 | Sizz, Snooze, Fizzle |
As soon as you’re in, open your Spell menu and cast Glow so that you can see your surroundings. Before going to the next floor you should take the pathway that leads all the way east until you hit the wall, then head north and west. You’ll find three chests with a Seed of Life, a Magic Key and some gold.

Eat the Seed of Life to permanently raise your HP. Go back east and all the way south until you see a double door. Open it with a Magic Key and follow the pathway until you reach the stairs.

On the second floor there are many stairs, but the one that you need to access the next floor is the one on the southwestern corner. Try to keep your HP high as the monsters on the next two floors are tougher.

In this floor you will find Skeleton Soldiers which are the hardests mobs from this dungeon as well as Spitegeists and Drohl Diabolists who can cast Snooze on you and give you some problems. Take the path to the northeast until you find the next floor. The path is short enough that you may not encounter any monsters.
On the fourth floor just head to the east and use the stairs on the center, which lead you back to the third floor. Open the chest in this room and you’ll find the Lyre of Ire.

Congratulations! You can open the Spell menu again and cast Evac now, to quickly get out of the dungeon. From now on you can use the Lyre of Ire to summon weak monsters, and it has unlimited uses.
Your next step on your adventure should be trading the Lyre for the Staff of Rain, but for now it is recommended you go back to Garin’s Grave a couple of times to grind until you’re level 15 before continuing the storyline.
