How to Get the Marked Beast Helmet in Fallout: New Vegas

The Marked Beast Helmet is the first of 4 unique helmets found on the named Marked Men throughout the Lonesome Road DLC. It can be found on Blister, who’s located in the location “Marked Men Base”.

  • Lonesome Road DLC required. To get this helmet, you’ll need to have the Lonesome Road DLC installed.
  • Part of a perk challenge. Killing 3 of the 4 unique Marked Men will lead to you getting the Marked perk, which will increase your damage against Marked Men by 10%.
    • The perk doesn’t function due to two separate coding errors, meaning that, unless you download a mod on the PC version of the game, this perk is completely useless.

Acquisition

During the quest “The Job”, you’ll have to make your way through a location called “Marked Man Base”.

Before getting there, your way will be blocked by a pile of cars. There’s a warhead in the center of the pile. Blow it up by shooting it with the Laser Detonator you acquired earlier in the quest.

After you blow it up, several flares will be launched from the base – that’s where Blister, the owner of the mask, is located. Carefully make your way towards the flares.

You’ll be fired at the moment you make it past the car wrecks. If you want to avoid that, you can just sit behind cover for a while, you’ll eventually enter a [HIDDEN] state again, and you can take out the Marked Men more easily.

You can set up landmines or satchel charges to then blow up Blister. He has a Flamer, meaning that he’ll have to run up to you to kill you, so landmines are a great way to kill him if you’re having trouble.

Once he’s dead, you can take the mask from his inventory.

Differences Between This and the Other Marked Beast Helmets

Most Marked Beast helmets are similar in stats. All but one of them have a DT of 3 and can be hit 50 times before breaking – this one included.

On the other hand, all of the helmets provide different stat boosts. This helmet provides an Energy Damage Resistance of 10% and a +2 bonus to the wearer’s Energy Weapons skill.

Gameplay Tips

  • This is the only item in the game that boosts the wearer’s resistance to Energy Weapons, making it very useful while fighting the Brotherhood of Steel.
