How to Get the Marked Beast Tribal Helmet in Fallout: New Vegas
How to Get the Marked Beast Tribal Helmet in Fallout: New Vegas

The Marked Beast Helmet is the third of 4 unique helmets found on the named Marked Men throughout the Lonesome Road DLC. It can be found on Bonesaw, whom you’ll find in a small campsite south of the Ashton Silo Control Station.

  • Lonesome Road DLC required. To get this helmet, you’ll need to have the Lonesome Road DLC installed.
  • Part of a perk challenge. Killing 3 of the 4 unique Marked Men will lead to you getting the Marked perk, which will increase your damage against Marked Men by 10%.
    • The perk doesn’t function due to two separate coding errors, meaning that, unless you download a mod on the PC version of the game, this perk is completely useless.

Acquisition

During the quest “The Launch”, you’ll be tasked with making your way to Ashton.

Just as you are about to reach the final destination of the quest, the Ashton Silo Control Station, go southeast. You’ll find a built-up area there. That’s where you can find Bonesaw.

The entire area is under overwatch from snipers that reside in the tall half-collapsed concrete building on the northern edge of the camp. If Bonesaw is all you’re after, lure him out. He’s located behind a brick building next to a smoldering campfire. Be warned, though – Bonesaw wields a chainsaw, which completely ignores all armor and any resistances.

Once you kill Bonesaw, you can take the mask from his inventory.

Differences Between This and the Other Marked Beast Helmets

  • It provides a higher DT (4 vs 3).
  • It weighs less (2 lbs vs 3 lbs).
  • It has double the durability (100 hits before breaking vs 50 hits before breaking).

Like all of the Marked Beast helmets, it also provides the wearer with a stat boost, specifically, it boosts the wearer’s Melee Weapons and Unarmed skills by 3, making it arguably the worst of the 4 as far as stat boosts go.

Gameplay Tips

  • Other than as a collector’s piece, this item is mostly useless, as the non-unique Riot Gear Helmet, which is found all over the DLC, provides a DT of 5, compared to this helmet’s 4.
