Stats+45 DEF, can bounce spells
LocationNiferia

You’ll find a Mirror Shield on the sixth floor of the Niferia cave, near the final dungeon of Chapter 5. You can’t buy this shield in any shop in the game.

Preparations

  • Be around level 30. Grind outside Azimuth town until you’re at that level. If you got the Liquid Metal Sword, you can farm Metal Slimes quite consistently for a ton of EXP.
  • Gear up. Equip your hero with full Zenithian Gear, the Liquid Metal Sword on any member of your party, and the best armors you can buy in Azimuth.

Getting to the Niferia Cave

Once you climb the Zenithian Tower and reach Zenithia, Orifiela will leave your party and thank you for taking her back home. Go to the eastern stairways and talk to her again. She’ll give you Sparkie, a baby dragon that will join your team. He has pretty good stats but is controlled by the AI.

Go to the main hall of Zenithia and speak to the Zenith Dragon. He’ll power up your Zenithian Sword and ask you to stop Psaro. Go back to where Orifiella gave you Sparkie, and exit through the south door. Jump in the hole in the clouds to get to the Niferia Cave.

Finding the Mirror Shield

This cave has many paths in the dark so it can look labyrinthic at times. As soon as you enter, head left and follow the pathway until it ends, then exit through the southern door. You’ll reach another pathway. Follow it until the end, and on the bifurcation pick the western exit.

Head south until you see some poisonous tiles (the chest in there has a Mimic, ignore it) and then west. When you reach the end of the room, turn north and go up the stairs.

This room has a lot of sliding tiles. Avoid the pit in front of you, head to the southwestern side of the room and step on that sliding tile. Pick the chest with a cursed armor if you want and then step on the sliding tiles to the north. Follow the path above you to reach the stairs to the next floor.

This room has a Seed of Life, a Seed of Strength, a Seed of Agility and some gold. Get through the southwestern stairs and you’ll reach a small islet with a raft. Get on the raft and row east until the next islet. Get on those stairs.

From here follow the pathway west to the next floor. Open the door in that room and head south, crossing the bridge over the lava, to reach the top of an underground tower. Let yourself fall through the hole in that tower to reach a small room divided in two. The side in which you fell has a chest. Open it to find the Mirror Shield.

The Mirror Shield is yours! This shield can be equipped by Kiryl, Ragnar and the Hero. It has 45 DEF, just a little less than the Tempest and Zenithian Shield, but its effect makes spells bounce off the wearer, making it very useful against monsters that use magic. If you don’t have the Liquid Metal Shield, this is the best shield for Kiryl.

Now that you have the Mirror Shield you can cast Evac or finish the dungeon, as you only have to get through 2 more small rooms to reach a checkpoint that you can later teleport to.
