How to get past the artillery barrage outside the Nellis Air Force Base in Fallout: New Vegas

The Nellis Air Force Base is an important settlement. To enter it, the player must get past an artillery barrage. This guide will go over the safest method to get into the artillery base and enter the settlement.

Quick tip before you go to Nellis:

  • Don’t come with crippled legs. Crippled legs slow your movement speed, making getting hit with an artillery shell a far more likely scenario, even with this method.

Entering the Nellis Air Force Base

Entering the Nellis Air Force Base isn’t so simple, because the entirety of the outside is guarded by artillery fire.

There are several ways of entering Nellis, however, the safest method involves waiting in 2 specific houses, both of which are located to the left of the road. The first house is located just beside the road. You can even see it from the entrance to the artillery zone.

Go into the far left corner of the house and wait until the barrage is over.

After that, exit the house and move to the house to the north-northeast. Again, wait in the most intact-looking corner and wait out the barrage.

Once the barrage is over, walk to the chainlink fence.

Once you reach the fence, the artillery will cease and you can follow the fence until you reach the main gate, where the guard will speak to you.

Follow the orders the guard gives you. Eventually, you’ll be allowed to roam around the base freely.
