In order to create the Onyx Blades, you will need to create at least two Ingots first.

Here are the requirements you will need to meet:

Collect the necessary ingredients: The Onyx Blade and the Ingots will both require Amatite Ores.
Synthesize an Ingot: As mentioned earlier, the Onyx Blade recipe requires an Ingot. You will have to synthesize it before proceeding.

Obtaining the Amatite Ore

You can easily find the Amatite Ore near the Atelier. Simply follow the dirt path behind the Atelier, the one that leads to the Flower Ring.

Look for the boulders with dark ores on them. Collect these boulders in order to obtain the Amatite Ore. Make sure to collect at least four Amatite Ores in total.

Synthesizing Ingots

After obtaining the ingredients, return to the Atelier.

You will have to start by creating Ingots. Use the cauldron and select the Ingot recipe.

Start by adding an Amatite Ore to the Effect 1 loop in the center.

Move to the Effect 2 loop to the right. Insert an Amatite Ore in this loop as well.

You have now filled the two core loops, which means you can synthesize the recipe right away.

Since there is no Quality requirement, you can synthesize the Ingots right away and save ingredients.

This recipe automatically synthesizes at least three Ingots, which will be more than enough for this quest.

Synthesizing the Onyx Blades

After synthesizing the Ingots, you can move on to the Onyx Blades.

Use the cauldron and select the Onyx Blade recipe. All mandatory synthesis for the main story will show up at the top of the menu and with a marker.

Insert an Ingot in the central Effect 1 loop.

Move to the Effect 2 loop above the Effect 1 loop and insert an Amatite Ore.

These are the only core loops for this recipe. You can synthesize it straight away and save ingredients.

This quest requires you to synthesize two Onyx Blades. Select the recipe again and repeat the process to obtain the second one.

Return to Kurken Port and talk to Agatha.

Deliver both Onyx Blades to her in order to complete the quest and advance the main story.
