The Paladin Toaster is a unique version of the Zap Glove that can be found in Black Rock Cave.
The Paladin Toaster is arguably the best unarmed weapon to use against robots and opponents wearing power armor, due to its high bonus damage against these enemies. This is balanced by the weapon’s low durability and substandard damage against non-robotic opponents.
Quick tip before you go get the weapon.
- Nightkin in the area. The area where the Paladin Toaster is located is patrolled by Nightkin, including a Nightkin Master. Prepare accordingly.
How to acquire the Paladin Toaster
First, you must head to the location “Black Rock Cave”, which is located between Black Mountain and HELIOS One.
Once you’re there, you should see a cave entrance located between sets of boulders. Head inside.
The cave is rather straightforward. Keep to the right the whole time, starting at the entrance.
Eventually, you will see a dead Prospector with a dose of Hydra next to her, who has the Paladin Toaster on her corpse.
Comparing the Paladin Toaster to the Zap Glove
- The Paladin Toaster deals more damage and critical hit damage (41 damage vs 35)
- The Paladin Toaster has lower durability (395 attacks before breaking vs 495 attacks before breaking)
Tips for using the Paladin Toaster
- All Unarmed weapons deal 2x damage in VATS, so using VATS is definitely recommended.
- The Piercing Strike is especially useful with this weapon, as it allows it to fulfill its anti-armor/robot purpose more effectively. The perk does this by allowing the weapon to ignore 15 points of Damage Threshold.
- The Slayer perk will greatly increase the weapon’s attack speed.
- The Weapon Binding Ritual (Honest Hearts DLC required) increases the weapon’s damage by 10 with each attack.
