The potato is one of the spring crops in the game. Potatoes sell for more gold than turnips, but it grows at a slower rate. During the early game, plant potatoes as soon as you can afford them, as they will provide you with gold to progress further.

Shipping 100 potatoes is a requirement to unlock strawberries, a special crop that only grows during spring.

The best way to plant crops is the U-Shape Formation. This method of planting crops ensures that no seed goes to waste since you can water and harvest them all. This is the optimal way of planting renewable crops.

The 3×3 formation is the best in terms of profit. You should only use the 3×3 square formation if you have an upgraded watering can, as you won’t be able to reach the crop at the center of the square without it. It’s also wise to use the 3×3 formation when planting non-renewable crops.
