How to Get the Unique “She’s Embrace” Yao Guai Gauntlet in Fallout: New Vegas

The She’s Embrace is a unique Yao Guai Gauntlet that is acquired at the end of the Rite Of Passage quest in the Honest Hearts DLC.

Quick tips before you go get this weapon:

  • Honest Hearts DLC required. To get this weapon, you must have the Honest Hearts DLC installed.
  • Visual effects. During the quest Rite Of Passage, which you must complete to get this weapon, the screen will be covered with a very distracting (and even nauseating) visual filter. This filter will not disappear until you finish this quest.
  • Ghost Of She boss fight. At the end of this quest, you’ll be forced to fight the Ghost Of She, a unique Yao Guai that has incredibly high HP and can spawn copies of itself. This boss fight is incredibly difficult and the player should prepare accordingly. Hollow Point ammunition is recommended, as the enemy has no DT or DR.

Acquisition

To get this weapon, you must complete the Rite Of Passage quest, which can be started in one of two ways –

  • Talk to Waking Cloud and ask her about her Yao Guai Gauntlet.
    • If you want to take this path, talk to her at the location “Sorrow’s Camp” and pick the first dialogue option. You won’t have any issues with finding her, as she’ll be the one approaching you as you enter the camp.

  • Wait for Waking Cloud to talk to you at the end of the DLC’s main story quest – Deliverer Of Sorrows.

Either approach has the same result: the Rite Of Passage quest will be added to your quest log and you’ll be tasked with going to White Bird’s Cave.

Before you go there, make sure that you have 3 or more Sacred Datura Roots. These are the roots of a plant that can be found everywhere within Zion Valley.

White Bird’s cave is located deep inside the Sorrow’s Camp, in its southeastern corner.

Once inside the cave, speak to the shaman sitting by the campfire and select the following dialogue options:

  • “What? I don’t know what “visions of truth” means.”

  • “I have some sacred datura here.”

Now your screen will have a nauseating filter applied over it, and it won’t disappear until you finish the quest. Try not to move your camera around too quickly – the motion blur will make seeing anything almost impossible.

Make your way out of the camp and then turn to the east, towards the location “Ghost Den”. The arena where you fight Ghost Of She is located northwest of there, marked by a quest marker.

Once there, your screen will flash white and a perpetually flaming Yao Guai will appear – that is the Ghost Of She. Be careful – this enemy deals tremendous damage, has the ability to split into several doppelgangers, and has incredibly high HP.

Kill it and loot its paw.

Now return to White Bird and tell him that the quest is done. Doing so will give you the weapon.

Comparing the She’s Embrace to the Yao Guai Gauntlet

  • She’s Embrace deals 5 more damage (25 damage vs 20 damage).
  • It attacks faster (1.76 attacks/second vs 1.63 attacks/second).
  • It has a higher critical hit damage multiplier (3x vs 2.5x).
  • It’s far more durable (4495 attacks before breaking vs 2995 attacks before breaking).

Gameplay Tips

  • Thanks to its ability to ignore DR and DT, it maintains its usefulness even into the later stages of the game, despite its otherwise low damage.
  • The high critical hit damage multiplier makes this weapon a great choice for an unarmed-focused critical hit build.
  • Despite this weapon’s great stats, it becomes overshadowed by the Industrial Hand from the Lonesome Road DLC, which is incredibly similar to this weapon, but it’s better in practically every single way. Guide on how to acquire that weapon here.
