| Location | Cave to the east of Casabranca |
The Symbol of Faith is hidden in a cave far to the east of Casabranca, in the fifth chapter of the game. This item will allow you to recruit Hoffman Jr. and his wagon, so you can cross the desert.
Preparations
- Have Meena and Maya at your party. You should have recruited them already. You can find them in Endor. Recruit Meena first, talking to her outside the church to the west of town, and then go find Maya in the casino.
- Be at least level 8. Grind to get gold for equipment and you should reach that level in no time.
- Gear up in Endor. Buy the Hardwood Headgear, Chainmail, Scale Shield and Chain Sickle for your hero. Buy equipment for Meena and Maya with whatever gold you have left.
Finding the Symbol of Faith’s location
Exit Casabranca and head east to find an entrance to the desert, in the mountains to your south. This is a desert inn. You need a wagon to cross the desert, and Hoffman Jr. won’t let you use his until you make him trust people again. If you talk to him and choose “No”, he’ll tell you a story about losing a friend of his in a cave to the east. That’s where you need to go.
Exit the inn and walk east, following the mountain range. You’ll cross three bridges and reach a small island with a cave on the north side. Enter the cave.
Exploring the cave
The only monsters in this cave are Frolickers, Tricksys and Vampire Bats. None of them should give you much trouble if you’re around level 8. There are also no other items besides the Symbol of Faith.
Walk north through the only pathway and at one point, both Meena and Maya will fall into a trap. Walk down the first set of stairs you see to search for them.
You’ll see the sisters going through the west path. Follow them until a dead end, and then you’ll discover they’re not Meena and Maya, but two monsters. You’ll have to fight two Frolickers alone.
After you defeat them, you’ll fall to another floor. Heal up and talk to the sisters that are running around ahead of you. Again, it turns out they were monsters.
You’ll have to fight two Vampire Bats and two Tricksters this time. It’s only a somewhat difficult fight because you are alone. Focus on the Vampire Bats first, as they die faster, and then finish the Tricksters. Heal up every time your health goes below half your HP bar and you should be fine.
After you beat them, get through the stairs on the northeastern corner of the room, and you’ll see the sisters running south, but this time they’re the real ones. Go south, skip the stairs, and talk to them. They’ll ask you a question to know if you’re a monster, answer with “No” and they’ll join back.
Now that you have them back in your party, get through the stairs in the middle of the room, open the door to the south and go back to the first floor of the cave.
Open the door to the south now and get into those stairs. After two rooms you’ll reach a big room with many locked doors. Open the two doors in the middle to find the chest with the Symbol of Faith.
You can exit the cave now. If Maya is already at level 9, you can cast Evac to exit quickly. You can walk back to the desert inn from here, or use a Chimaera Wing to go to Casabranca and walk from there.
With the Symbol of Faith on your hands, you simply have to give it to Hoffman Jr., and he’ll learn about what really happened to his friend. He’ll trust you now and join your party, allowing you to cross the desert and reach your next destination: Bath and Porthrunnel, where you’ll search for Torneko.
