For this part, you will need to clear the following tasks:
- Synthesize a Reaper’s Scythe.
- Collect five Kurken Fruits.
- Upgrade your gear.
Creating the Reaper’s Scythe
Following the cutscenes at the Stout household, use the guide post and fast travel to Old Town – Old Town Entrance. Head over to Empel and Lila’s house.
Inside, Empel will tell you about recipe morphs. You will need to synthesize a Reaper’s Scythe, which is an Ingot morph.
As soon as you return to Ryza’s home, you will learn the Ingot recipe.
You can learn here how to synthesize the Reaper’s Scythe and where to find the Kurken Fruits.
After collecting the Kurken Fruits, deliver them to Karl, Ryza’s father, in front of the field.
Choose the ones with the lowest Quality and the worst Traits.
Having completed the task, return to Ryza’s room in order to advance to part 5.
Upgrading Your Gear
You’ve now unlocked the recipes for Ingot and Cloth, which means you can use them to upgrade your gear for the first time.
How to Synthesize Weapons
In order to synthesize a weapon, you need to start by synthesizing its respective Ingot-category ingredient.
For now, Ingot is the only one available. Select the Ingot recipe, then focus on leveling up the Effect 1 loop.
By doing this, you will add the “Gear Synth: ATK +2” effect. Synthesize the Ingot with this effect, and create at least four units.
After that, select the weapons tab from the cauldron’s menu, then choose which weapon recipe you will synthesize.
In the weapon recipe, select the central Quality loop. Using the maximum ingredients available, add as many Ingots as possible.
By doing this, you will be able to stack up stat points, which will let you create more powerful weapons. Later in the game, you will be able to Rebuild your items and max out the remaining loops.
How to Synthesize Armors
You will follow a similar process for the armors. But first, you will need their recipes.
Fast travel to Boden District – Fressher’s Shop, and talk to Fressher himself.
Scroll down the menu, select the “Kurken Fashion” book and buy it for 150 Cole.
Return to Ryza’s room in order to learn the recipes.
Next, synthesize the respective Cloth-category ingredient. In this case, you will use the Cloth recipe.
Again, focus on maxing out the Effect 1 loop to pick up the “Gear Synth: DEF +2” effect, and then synthesize the recipe.
Select the weapons tab again, and scroll down to the armors.
Choose which recipe you will work on. Add as many Cloth units as possible to the Quality loop.
With sufficient stat points stacked, you can now synthesize the recipe.
Keep in mind that you will only be able to equip your new gear at Kurken or in the Atelier. You won’t be able to change your equipment once you head out.
