There are special crops in Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town are not available at the start of the game. These crops require you to ship lots of seasonal crops before you can buy their seeds, which means you need to work hard to unlock them.
Spring Special Crop: Strawberry
The strawberry is a special crop that only grows during spring. Strawberries take 8 days to grow and you can harvest them every two days after that. You can have a maximum of 11 harvests of strawberries per season.
To unlock strawberry seeds at the Supermarket, you need to ship at least 100 units of each of the following spring crops:
- Turnip
- Potato
- Cucumber
Summer Special Crop: Pumpkin
You can only plant pumpkin seeds during the summer season. The pumpkin is a non-renewable crop, meaning once you harvest it, you need to buy its seeds again if you want to harvest more. You can only have a maximum of two harvests of pumpkins per season.
Pumpkin seeds become available at the Supermarket after you ship at least 100 units of each of the following summer crops:
- Tomato
- Corn
- Onion
Fall Special Crop: Spinach
The spinach is a special crop that only grows during the fall season. It’s not the best crop during fall in terms of profit, but it grows fast. It’s also a non-renewable crop with a maximum of five harvests per season.
To unlock spinach seeds at the Supermarket, you need to ship at least 100 units of each of the following fall crops:
- Eggplant
- Carrot
- Sweet Potato
How to Check How Many Crops You’ve Shipped
You can keep track of how many crops you still need to ship in order to unlock the special crops by pressing the START button, and selecting “Memo”. Then look for the “Number shipped” window.
This window will show you the number of all the items you have shipped, from crops, animal produce, ores, and foraged items like mushrooms and grasses.
