How to Synthesize the Wind Shoes in Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout

The Wind Shoes are a gathering item you can use to access certain spots by flying on air currents or by skipping stones across the water. These areas are often hidden areas with special landscapes or secret bosses.

You can make the Wind Shoes by morphing the Sorcery Rose recipe. The ingredients for this become available during Chapter 6, The Abandoned Tower, parts 2 and 3.

Here are some quick tips for synthesizing the Wind Shoes:

  1. Raise your Alchemy Level: Synthesizing the Wind Shoes requires Alchemy Level 34.
  2. Unlock the Wind Shoes recipe: To obtain the Wind Shoes recipe, you need to complete four recipe morphs. Start from Cloth and then proceed with Natural Cloth Beastial Air and Sorcery Rose.
  3. Add the Lightweight and the Wind Rider effects: The basic recipe does not allow the Wind Shoes to skip stones or to fly. You will need to unlock extra Effect Loops for this. These effects are Lightweight (for skipping stones) and Wind Rider (for flying).
  4. Gather the necessary ingredients: You will need two ingredients for the effects. Sorcery Rose gives you Lightweight and the Trihorn bug unlocks Wind Rider.

Obtaining the Ingredients for the Wind Shoes

Before getting started, be sure to have the following ingredients:

  1. Spirit Bottle
  2. Delphi Rose
  3. Trihorn

You will need all three of them to synthesize the Wind Shoes and to add effects.

How to Obtain the Spirit Bottle

The Spirit Bottle is an ingredient obtained from a recipe morph. You will need it later on to complete the Sorcery Rose into Wind Shoes morph.

This loop starts with the Mixing Oil ingredient. The recipe for it is locked behind the sidequest “Handyman in Need”.

To unlock this quest, fast travel to Boden District – Kurken Port and talk to Rolf. You will find him a few steps east of your arrival point.

After unlocking the quest, you will need to talk to three people. First, head down the stairs from your current position and talk to this woman.

Return to Rolf, report the quest and you will obtain the Solid Fuel Recipe.

Head over to the Atelier and you will automatically learn the recipe for Mixing Oil.

Next, complete the following steps to obtain a Spirit Bottle:

  1. Morph the Mixing Oil into Alchemy Paint by adding a Rainbow Grape (requires Alchemy Level 15).
  2. Morph the Alchemy Paint into Spirit Bottle by adding a Lapis Papillion (requires Alchemy Level 32).

Obtaining the Delphi Rose

You will need a Delphi Rose to obtain the recipe for Sorcery Rose.

Fast travel to Liese Valley – Valley Path or Ancient Battlefield and look for these big roses:

Catching a Trihorn

The third and final ingredient is the Trihorn bug.

Fast travel to Pynnor Tower. You will find these Holy Arbor logs right at the entrance.

Simply use your net on the log to catch a Trihorn bug. If you fail to catch a Trihorn there, head down the stairs to find more Holy Arbor logs.

When and How To Make the Wind Shoes

You can synthesize the Wind Shoes for the first time during Chapter 6 – The Abandoned Tower.

Obtaining the recipe for the Wind Shoes is the first step. You will need to complete these four recipe morphs:

  1. Start with the Cloth recipe. Morph it into Natural Cloth by adding Alchemy Fibers (requires Alchemy Level 9).
  2. Morph the Natural Cloth into Beastial Air by adding an Animal Hide (requires Alchemy Level 17).
  3. Morph the Beastial Air into Sorcery Rose by adding a Delphi Rose (requires Alchemy Level 34).
  4. Morph the Sorcery Rose recipe into Wind Shoes by adding a Spirit Bottle (also requires Alchemy Level 34).

Remember to duplicate your Sorcery Rose or synthesize extra ones, as you will need them later.

After completing the fourth morph, you will be able to make the Wind Shoes. But do not synthesize them yet.

As mentioned earlier, the basic Wind Shoes recipe does not allow you to access secret spots. If you synthesize it right away, the item will only give you a small speed boost.

You now need to add Lightweight and Wind Rider using the right-side Effect loops. The Element Values required are extremely low, so this is easy to do.

You will obtain Lightweight by adding one or more Sorcery Roses to the Effect 2 Loop. This loop requires an Ice Element Value of 4.

Adding a Trihorn will unlock the Effect 3 Loop, which gives you Wind Rider. Effect 3 needs Bug-type ingredients and requires a Lightning Element Value of 5.

With the two Effect Loops complete, you can synthesize the recipe.
